The
Search Bloc consisted of a group of
Colombian police officers who were assembled with the sole objective of the
apprehension of drug dealer
Pablo Escobar and his associates. The members of the Search Bloc received
training from the
United States Special Forces and were selected for being especially impervious to
police corruption such as
bribes. Throughout the mission, the Search Bloc faced obstacles such as a
spy within the Search Bloc, allegations of collaboration with the anti-Escobar
vigilante group
Los Pepes, which would have included vigilantism within the Search Bloc pertaining to suspicious deaths of Pablo Escobar's subordinates.
The death of
Pablo Escobar happened on
December 2,
1993 in a shootout with members of the Search Bloc.
After dismantling the
Medellin Cartel the Search Bloc was transferred to
Cali to search and shut down the structure of the
Cali Cartel.
